Live Technical Workshop

Session Abstract:

Oracle Database version 12.1 is now more than a decade old (initial release July 2013) featuring a new “Container” architecture: Since then, a majority of Oracle’s customers have continued to upgrade from versions 10g and 11g to 12c and above but have done so utilizing the legacy architecture depriving themselves of the experience and new features that are vastly superior: This “habit” is coming to an end with their next upgrade as version 21c and the newly released 23ai did not support the legacy architecture.

Oracle Technical Director, and ACE Alumnus, Daniel Morgan will be presenting a two-hour technical workshop that will address the essential understanding, tricks and traps learned over the last decade including container navigation, changes to control files, redo logs and processes, logical and physical tablespace and datafile management, data dictionary tables and views, dynamic performance views (V$ and GV$), common users, roles, and profiles, sharing metadata and data with pointers, initialization parameters (pfile / spfile), external jobs, and security.

If you have not yet worked in an Oracle Container Database, or have poked around but not yet managed one in production, this technical workshop will quickly get you up to speed.
